January 22, 2013<br />
El Tapatio Restaurant, St. Helens Oregon</p>
<p>Start time: 7:25pm<br />
End time: 8:10<br />
Eighteen Members in attendance!</p>
<p>February Meeting will be on 2/26/13 @ Hugh &amp; Muireann&#8217;s<br />
March Meeting will be on 3/26/13 @ Rob &amp; Marnita&#8217;s</p>
<p>Last meeting&#8217;s minutes (Nov) read and accepted.</p>
<p>No reports were filed for December from officers as there was no meeting.</p>
<p>Exchequer (outgoing) Muireann will be meeting with Dani (incoming) to open our new bank account soon. Possibly US Bank.</p>
<p>Members agreed to open and fill the officer position of Chatelaine. Ered has graciously offered his services in this position and will be officially known as Chatelaine of Kaldorness at our next meeting in February.</p>
<p>Appoline has offered to step up into an acting Herald position. At this time we are undecided if a permanent office of Herald for Kaldorness is warranted.</p>
<p>Discussion was made regarding our event for the year. It has been agreed that we will have a Multi-Cultural Accademia, preferably at the same site. Muireann has been in contact with the school in the past and would be the best idea to discuss with them another event at their site. Seneschal will be filling out an EIF to reserve a date shortly. Mariotta has agreed to be the Site Coordinator under the supervision of Muireann, Event Coordinator.</p>
<p>Rob has requested that we make a proposal for a &#8220;South vs. North Baronial War&#8221;, to be announced at an event this season, ie.. Tryggvy&#8217;s. A lot of ideas were discussed and the consensus was that this was a good idea.</p>
<p>We would also like to possibly try and make an appearance at the Baroness&#8217;s War as listed in the Kingdom Calendar on 4/12 &#8211; 4/14 2013.</p>
<p>Other upcoming events discussed:</p>
<p>Carnivale (with Accademia classes!)- hosted by Dragon&#8217;s Mist on 2/16/13<br />
3M Baronial Welcoming Court &#8211; at the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church on 3/9/13<br />
Culinary Symposium (for foodies) &#8211; in Sandy, OR on 3/29/13<br />
Grand Thing (Stromgard) &#8211; first major camping event of the season &#8211; on 5/24 &#8211; 5/27 2013.</p>
<p>Seneschal has agreed to make arrangements for the last 6 years of paperwork, to be scanned and arranged for storage online; and will discuss plans for making them secure, yet readily available to the group by next meeting. The plan is for Jacinda to be the new paperwork deputy to relieve that responsibility from Baroness Alexandria.</p>

<p> Talked about Accedemia and the site. A report will need to be made at the next council meeting.  Next time this site is used we need to bring more tables and put normal chairs in the classrooms.</p>
<p> Alex brought up the possibility of sending letters to the local schools to see if they would be interested in having us show up in garb and speak to their classes in a mini-demo fashion.  It&#8217;s a good way to get our name out there and be more visible in the community.</p>
<p> Discussed the possibility of having a semi-regular thrown weapons practice in the way future. We would need a thrown weapons Marshal on site &#8211; Jacinda wants to look into it.</p>
<p> Need to get 3M website to forward to our new website of Kaldorness.org.  Renewal for the domain name is coming up next month.</p>

<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Our regular monthly business meeting was held at Hugh and Murna&#8217;s house on 2/24 with 12 members including four new visitors in attendance.   Our next meeting will be on 3/23 at 7pm, at Jacinda&#8217;s home, weather permitting. Please watch the email lists.</p>
<p>We currently have $1256.52 being held for us by the Barony of 3M.  This includes the tithe donation made last month of $293.02 that was previously voted upon and a change of $70 as a reimbursement  to Carith for the largesse parties at the Odd Fellow&#8217;s Hall rental.</p>
<p>Discussions were made regarding sending letters to the local schools in our area that we are available for classroom style mini-demos on request.</p>
<p>Considering having a semi-regular thrown weapons practice &#8211; Jacinda is finding out how to get Marshaled for thrown weapons.</p>
<p>We did attend the customary meeting on 2/26, learned a lot and spoke our minds respectfully.</p>

<li><strong>Seneschal:</strong> Emailed reports -did not attend council due to snow, but has read all minutes and is up-to-date.</li>
<li><strong>Exchequer:</strong> Need corrected number before Accademia</li>
<li><strong>A&amp;S:</strong> Nothing to report</li>
<li>Upkeep Stuff:    Nothing new to report. All projects are currently based around Accademia event.</li>
</ul>
<p><strong>Events update:</strong></p>
<ul>
<li>Accademia: Michelle needs volunteers, badly &#8211; specifically 8an volunteers on site.<br />
Catherine will take care of all issues with registration and bcc all groups</li>
<li>July Coronation: Vivien is the Autocrat with Ludviga supervising. Please contact them if you can assist.</li>
<li>12th Night 2013 update: Will be at Lloyd Center Doubletree &#8211; Alex is leading the committee for decorations.<strong>Old &amp; New Business:</strong></li>
<li>Hawksgaard is requesting recommendations to be sent to kingdom in regards to their request to become a Shire. These need to be sent in ASAP.</li>
<li>Discussed the possibility of Boy Scout troops(?) to deliver ice at events</li>

<p>February Seneschal&#8217;s Report for the Canton of KaldorNess</p>
<p>Our regular monthly business meeting was held at Appoline&#8217;s house on 1/27 with 5 members and two new visitors in attendance.   Our next meeting will be on 2/24 at 7pm, at the same Hugh &amp; Murna&#8217;s home.</p>
<p>We currently have $1326.52 being held for us by the Barony of 3M. The Canton members did converge for a vote on 2/7 and 2/8 and unanimously agreed to volunteer a percentage payment to The Barony of Three Mountains for what we feel is our share of the lawsuit settlement as put in place by the Kingdom. The amount that we would donate would be $293.02</p>
<p>Kaldorness had a wonderful event last weekend! We are pleased that we had a great turn-out and we certainly feel we want to do it again. We freely admit there were some issues with registration and we feel that it&#8217;s a &#8220;lesson learned&#8221; and that all future Accademia events will be handled more smoothly.</p>

<p>There was no business meeting in the month of December due to the holidays. We did meet in November and incorporated our Quarterly Social gathering into it as previously reported at the last council meeting.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>There have been no changes to our funds being held by 3M since the last report.</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Accademia:</p>
<p>The focus of our group and many other recent gatherings have been in preparation for the Accademia event on February 18-19, 2012.  All classes &amp; schedules and other good stuff is posted on our website: <a href="http://www.kaldorness.org/">http://www.kaldorness.org</a> and the event is by pre-registration only so if you wish to attend, please make sure your completed form and payment are mailed soon!  The registration must be postmarked by <strong>February 4, 2012.</strong></p>
<p><strong> </strong></p>
<p>We are still in need of folks to help out at the event –</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>·         helping teachers bring in  and take out their fabulous class gear,</p>
<p>·         helping set up and staff the snack table,</p>
<p>·         helping check folks in at the gate table (no money here, just registration packets and blue cards),</p>
<p>·         helping folks to classes,</p>
<p>·         and of course cleaning up afterward.</p>
<p>Please consider volunteering an hour or even 15 minutes here and there to make this classroom-focused event happen.</p>

<p>Next Meeting Nov 18 at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant @ 7pm &#8211; This meeting will also be our quarterly social, and will encompass the meetings for November and December.  There will be no more meetings this year.</p>

<p>Last meeting minutes ok&#8217;d</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Old Business:  KaldorNess authorized the expense of $70 ($35 each day) for the use of the Milwaukie Odd Fellows Hall for last month&#8217;s Largesse Parties.  We agreed that this amount is to be reimbursed to Carith, as she covered the cost out-of-pocket.</p>
<p>Exchequer: $1,619.54 held by 3M &#8211; gathering information regarding starting a new non-profit business account locally.  This amount is less $25 from the previous month for the cost of the Embellisher&#8217;s event location Use Permit as previously agreed upon.</p>

<p>A&amp;S &#8211; Report in &#8211; nothing new to report</p>
<p>&nbsp;</p>
<p>Embellishers: Feb 2012 at Scappoose High School - Discussed changes to the Crier Copy before the final draft (to be submitted).  Discussed at length classes to be taught and how to get the word out regarding the Accademia.</p>
