February Meeting will be on 2/26/13 @ Hugh & Muireann’s
March Meeting will be on 3/26/13 @ Rob & Marnita’s

Last meeting’s minutes (Nov) read and accepted.

No reports were filed for December from officers as there was no meeting.

Exchequer (outgoing) Muireann will be meeting with Dani (incoming) to open our new bank account soon. Possibly US Bank.

Members agreed to open and fill the officer position of Chatelaine. Ered has graciously offered his services in this position and will be officially known as Chatelaine of Kaldorness at our next meeting in February.

Appoline has offered to step up into an acting Herald position. At this time we are undecided if a permanent office of Herald for Kaldorness is warranted.

Discussion was made regarding our event for the year. It has been agreed that we will have a Multi-Cultural Accademia, preferably at the same site. Muireann has been in contact with the school in the past and would be the best idea to discuss with them another event at their site. Seneschal will be filling out an EIF to reserve a date shortly. Mariotta has agreed to be the Site Coordinator under the supervision of Muireann, Event Coordinator.

Rob has requested that we make a proposal for a “South vs. North Baronial War”, to be announced at an event this season, ie.. Tryggvy’s. A lot of ideas were discussed and the consensus was that this was a good idea.

We would also like to possibly try and make an appearance at the Baroness’s War as listed in the Kingdom Calendar on 4/12 – 4/14 2013.

Other upcoming events discussed:

Carnivale (with Accademia classes!)- hosted by Dragon’s Mist on 2/16/13
3M Baronial Welcoming Court – at the Milwaukie Presbyterian Church on 3/9/13
Culinary Symposium (for foodies) – in Sandy, OR on 3/29/13
Grand Thing (Stromgard) – first major camping event of the season – on 5/24 – 5/27 2013.

Seneschal has agreed to make arrangements for the last 6 years of paperwork, to be scanned and arranged for storage online; and will discuss plans for making them secure, yet readily available to the group by next meeting. The plan is for Jacinda to be the new paperwork deputy to relieve that responsibility from Baroness Alexandria.

Monthly Business Meeting Report Minutes

February 24, 2012

 Start time:  7:03 pm  Twelve people in attendance: Alexandria, Dea, Rhiannon, Dameon, Appoline, Jacinda, Aedan, Sean, Muireann, Hu(gh), Amy, and Keith H.

 

Next Meeting:  Fri, March 23nd at Jacinda’s, weather permitting.    April Meeting at Sunshine Pizza in St. Helens at 7pm. This meeting will be our Quarterly Social.  Last month’s meeting minutes ok’d.

 

Officer Reports:

 Seneschal: Attended Council and will attend Customary meeting.

 Exchequer:  We currently have $1256.52 behind held by the Barony of 3M.

 A&S: Nothing to report

 Discussed to all deputies that reporting monthly needs to be directly to your 3M Supervising Officer as well.

 Talked about Accedemia and the site. A report will need to be made at the next council meeting.  Next time this site is used we need to bring more tables and put normal chairs in the classrooms.

 Alex brought up the possibility of sending letters to the local schools to see if they would be interested in having us show up in garb and speak to their classes in a mini-demo fashion.  It’s a good way to get our name out there and be more visible in the community.

 Discussed the possibility of having a semi-regular thrown weapons practice in the way future. We would need a thrown weapons Marshal on site – Jacinda wants to look into it.

 Need to get 3M website to forward to our new website of Kaldorness.org.  Renewal for the domain name is coming up next month.

Monthly Business Meeting Report Minutes
January 27, 2012

Start time: 7:05 pm

Fifteen people in attendance, Jacinda, Aedan, Alex, Muireann, Hugh, Carith, Appoline, Daniel, Pam, Sean, Izzy, Jamie, and two new visitors, Dea and Danielle (yay!)

Last month’s meeting minutes ok’d.

Officer Reports:

  • Seneschal: Emailed reports -did not attend council due to snow, but has read all minutes and is up-to-date.
  • Exchequer: Need corrected number before Accademia
  • A&S: Nothing to report
  • Upkeep Stuff:    Nothing new to report. All projects are currently based around Accademia event.

Events update:

  • Accademia: Michelle needs volunteers, badly – specifically 8an volunteers on site.
    Catherine will take care of all issues with registration and bcc all groups
  • July Coronation: Vivien is the Autocrat with Ludviga supervising. Please contact them if you can assist.
  • 12th Night 2013 update: Will be at Lloyd Center Doubletree – Alex is leading the committee for decorations.Old & New Business:
  • Hawksgaard is requesting recommendations to be sent to kingdom in regards to their request to become a Shire. These need to be sent in ASAP.
  • Discussed the possibility of Boy Scout troops(?) to deliver ice at events

Notes from Nov 2011 Meeting

 

The upcoming meetings are Jan 27th at Jacinda’s unless the weather is dicey, alternate is at Appolines if that is the case

Feb 24th Meeting at Hugh and Muireann’s

Attendance: Master Aleyn, HL Helena, Jacinda, Keith, Brittany, Muireann, Hugh, Carith, Jonathan, Alexandria, Aedan, Appoline, Guido, plus the kids Sean, Brian, Jamie, & Izzy

We talked about:

  • Yule taxes (Gingerbread Village),
  • Accademia:  Insurance check and Filling the 80 hours of Accademia
  • Getting on the Seneschal’s list (Jacinda just got on)
  • That the Crier Copy for us is still wrong (needs corrected)
  • The 3M web information for us is still bad too and needs corrected (the Kaldor Web page)
No December meeting.  See everyone in January.

Please forgive this edited repost, as I forgot to mention some important details that were discussed at the meeting: my note-taking ability that night was less than desired.

Next Meeting Nov 18 at Ixtapa Mexican Restaurant @ 7pm – This meeting will also be our quarterly social, and will encompass the meetings for November and December.  There will be no more meetings this year.

 

Last meeting minutes ok’d

 

Old Business:  KaldorNess authorized the expense of $70 ($35 each day) for the use of the Milwaukie Odd Fellows Hall for last month’s Largesse Parties.  We agreed that this amount is to be reimbursed to Carith, as she covered the cost out-of-pocket.

Exchequer: $1,619.54 held by 3M – gathering information regarding starting a new non-profit business account locally.  This amount is less $25 from the previous month for the cost of the Embellisher’s event location Use Permit as previously agreed upon.

 

A&S – Report in – nothing new to report

 

Embellishers: Feb 2012 at Scappoose High School - Discussed changes to the Crier Copy before the final draft (to be submitted).  Discussed at length classes to be taught and how to get the word out regarding the Accademia.

Read official SCA policy on websites and Facebook.  The Facebook part will be no issue (extra stuff, not main web presence)  Will have to look into web issues as we bought the domain for the year already of Kaldorness.org…Jacinda will check in with 3M on this or check with Kingdom regarding this issue.

 

Exchequer:  1644.54 still being held by 3M.

Muireann will start researching Non-Profit accounts with local banks.  Wauna, St. Helens FCU, etc.

Need to check with 3M on customary of retrieving funds.

Embellishers: Embellishers Academia:  Feb 2012 at Scappoose High School  –OK’d from 3M at Sept Meeting.  Waiting to sign contract  then get EIF and Insurance in.  (Carith and Muireann will finalize).  No conflict with TirRigh per discussion with Baroness Jill. Crier Copy needs finalized by Nov meeting.

 

OLD BUSINESS:

Recommendation letters—everyone recommend someone (from any branch or any group for any award Kingdom or Baronial—)  You know you have seen some folks in the last year going above and beyond…and don’t forget our Canton award for general addition to the betterment of the group….

SoK A&S Prep Largesse meeting was on Aug 5…lots of stuff put together (Including haversack bags, 20 sewing kits, 30 cedar sachets, 21 handmade pewter buttons, 20 hand painted note cards, Mediterranean sea salt in glass and wooden 5 oz. jars, 3 hoods, pearls, two bronze torc bracelets (gifts from earlier activities), 2 leather covered books, 10 kingdom badge pewter disks, 2 handmade lanyards, etc

Upkeep—        3M Website is still incorrect and needs attention.  Jacinda…help.                        Need new fliers up at Burgerville and Fred Meyers                        Look into rentals of county park like Asbury Park (St. Helens)                        Still seeking location for fighter practice

2011Events Calendar: Embellishers Academia—Muireann is working with School (Scappoose) to get a contract and firm date (has had the verbal ok from the School Principal).  Carith has agreed to be our Canton Liason and will work with Muireann (as Academia coordinator).  Date we would like
Feb 18-19 2012.  Classes will include 5-6 tracks (masculine-friendly ones as well as traditionally feminine ones–grins)**Carith will get the Date Reservation filled in this month and to Canton Seneschal for review.**Carith will look in kingdom law about conflict allowance with principalities (Tir Righ Investiture is  that same weekend so we may need permission to conflict or not?)

Demo for 2012—On hold—Will address in Nov Meeting DM step up event (Boars Head Hunt and Feast) Sept 24–  Making largesse for them since they have supported us so strongly through the years (and even gave us some starter funds too)

3M Events:  Honor Feast (Oct 1) and Yule Feast (Dec 3) both in Milwaukie Community Center (same site as Yule last year)

OLD BUSINESS: Last meeting minutes—ok’dRecommendation Letters should be going in….!!!!

NEW BUSINESS:

1. May crown bid fell through for 2012—Also July Coronation bid is missing too—Any chance we can put together a bit on either of those events? –Feedback:  No where we know of will work for May Crown (too wet still in May)Columbia County Fairgrounds has some bad news—they are honoring existing contracts but they are deep in debt and may not be open next year.  So they are not accepting new events at this time.  Will check into Asburry Park (next to Fairgrounds) which is owned by the County.  It might be big enough to host a July Coronation (?12 acres)Trojan-Good rate but SoK had 550 though the door and that is about half of a typical Coronation.  Too small for that size event?  Could not host a full Coronation (1000 typical attendance )Camp Wilkerson—too small and no parking.Other options—????

2. Largesse Ideas for DM step up:  Plan one:  Dayshade idea –Midwesttent.com no longer has the black and white tarps…NO GOplan two:  DragonWing idea:  Can’t commit enough manpower to that project based on Cantonese schedules…NO GO for Canton—Possible for 3M?plan three:  Rent the Oddfellows hall in Milwaukie for 2 Sundays before the step up and make up as much largesse for the incoming B&B of Dragon’s Mist as we can (bags, cards, books, balls, hoods, step-up court kit, etc).  This will cost 70$.  Ok’d by canton.   Sept 11 & Sept 18.  Notes will be put out on the list for this to see if we can get several folks to help out including 3M folks).Other thoughts????

3. Schools—going back mid September—let’s try and get some History teacher contacts!

Events:3M Champions:  is 2.5 weeks away.  PLEASE try and come out to lend a hand and have a good time.  Need gate help, parking help, Gold Key help, Newcomer raffle help.   Set up is happening after 6:30 on Friday so come by the site and help us get the erics, signage, and that Baronial Pavilion Set up….Please…Pretty Please…grins                FOOD:  POTLUCK—bring treats to share                FOOD DRIVE:  Bring non perishables for the Oregon Food Bank!

Demo:  The 7-30 date is a bust—that is the date of the Scappoose POW WOW Festival and the town can’t support security for two big things happening –no manpower for that….SO we find a date in August or early September or we try again next year…..

Embellishers Guild Schola Event:  Jacinda will follow up with Scappoose High School on pricing and dates available before next month.

New Business:  Tuesdays don’t seem to be very well attended anymore…should we consider moving our Meeting back to Fridays with a social after?  Let’s discuss at next meeting.

Meeting Minutes:  Canton of Kaldorness April 2011 Mtg   Opened: 7:06 Closed 7:46  At Plantation House Pizza (Alexandria taking notes for this version) Attendance: Aedan, Alex, Sean, Jacinda, Muireann, Hugh, Lianna, Benjamin Tait, Appoline, Isabeau REPORTS:Seneschal Report:  Quarterly in to kingdom…will miss 3M meeting for May (out of state)Exchequer: Quarterly in to Kingdom, Neg. Report filed and Exchequer Training attended.A&S:  Sophia stepped down as A&S due to family  health issues.  Hugh volunteered to be acting A&S  (approved at council)  Proposed A&S/Largesse work day:  June 18Other:  Website: Newcomer print as you need info etc…will work on this in the Fall                Phone list:  needs updated in the coming month or soNew folks:  2 former 3M members are moving into the canton and Benjamin and Michelle (new folks) are going to become members this month!  Congrats and welcome to all 4 new Cantonese!  EVENTS:3M Champions:  Sophia was forced by health issues to resign. Alexandria will be stepping up to finish prep for the event.  Should not cause major issues as Sophia kept us all in the loop well.  We wish her and her hubby the best and will keep them in our thoughts until they are over the worst of it and might have time to play once more. Demo:  last weekend in July was decided upon BUT that weekend is the Scappoose Pow Wow and the Sherriff will not have resources available so we are back to the drawing board on a date for the demo….. Jacinda will fill in any holes in the notes when she returns from her trip.

Business Meeting Notes

Last meeting minutes ok’ed. 5 members in attendance.
Start time 7:15pm, End time 8:13pm.

Officer Reports:

Seneschal: Attended 3M Monthly Council meeting, gave report.

Exchequer: Attending Exchequer training on 4/2 – No change since last report. Balance of $1,236.53 on account.

A&S: Have new cache of leather for projects. Considering pouches, sewing kits, et al. Need ideas to use it up.

Upkeep:

OK’ed to create Facebook group page to post group events.

Purchased kaldorness.org to be hosted by Jacinda & Keith. Website ideas discussed and hope to have running soon.

Would like to make Newcomer web page to point people to, something printable to give out as well.

Need to keep an eye out for places to hang flyers – ie, Burgerville, Subway to promote Canton

Events Calendar:

3M Champions: Discussed re-arrangement of pavilions on site. Need to work on “House Rules” for site.

Demo 2011: Date decided for 7/30/11 – need to contact Lianna and fill out forms together to be turned into City of Scappoose. Alternate date (but not preferred) would be 8/5/11.

Embellishers Class Academy: Aedan has volunteered to be Site Liaison to Autocrat Muireann. Jacinda is in contact with Scappoose School District office regarding the rental of classrooms – has follow-up scheduled for after 4/1/11. We need 4-6 classrooms with a common area (cafeteria?). Expect to be at site by 7am, out by 8pm. Would like to have access to Kitchen/Cafeteria to prepare food. Need to make sure that Restrooms are unlocked and can be used. Would like to reserve for two days, cost allowing.

Old Business:

Largesse work day still being rolled around – will not be prepared in time for Grand Thing. Aiming for largesse delivery to Sport of Kings.

Discussed writing up period/medieval book reviews, fiction or non-fiction. Send to 3M Chronicler to be published in the Plume.

Directory information for the Barony to Lois by 4/1 if interested. Can send to Alex and she will forward in one message if you would like to be listed.
